ONE OF THE DELIGHTS OF SAILING with us is dining out with us. In the elegant Seven Continents Restaurant, menus feature a host of classic favorites prepared as you like them, as well as exotic confections that reflect the destinations we visit. Local produce brought on board will include rare fruits in Polynesia , exquisite steaks reared on the pampas of Argentina and fresh New Zealand lamb. The Yacht Club provides an exclusive, alternate venue where you're sure to dine at least once a week. By day, casual grills and salads are served around the pool at the Lido Buffet. Our smiling Filipino service staff are there to anticipate your every request. Don't be surprised if a day or two into your cruise, you don't even have to ask for cream and sugar. A reputation for unobtrusive yet attentive service is a tradition they gladly live up to.
FEEL AT EASE The same goes for our officers and crew who count experienced hands from Scandinavia , Britain and other European countries among their number. After safety, comfort is our priority. We even have gentlemen hosts on hand to provide company and conversation for ladies traveling alone – not to mention a considerate dancing partner. So sit back and enjoy all that Discovery has to offer. Whether you're spending a full day at sea or simply prefer to stay on board on a given day, a full program of entertainment will leave you free to pick and choose. A game of bridge, an arts and crafts workshop, wine tastings, culinary masterclasses, hair and beauty demonstrations, not to mention our program of enhancement lectures and special interest talks that preview our ports of call – all will add to the enriching experience of your vacation. The same can be said of your evenings on board. We shun the razzmatazz of Vegas-style shows in favor of tasteful cabaret productions, lively jazz sets, a classical trio, a six-piece band or a talented vocalist. And as we travel the world, we invite local folkloric talent on board – from a samba troupe in Rio to tango dancers in Buenos Aires . Or maybe a rousing tribal ritual in the heart of the Pacific.
DRESSING FOR THE OCCASION In keeping with Discovery's elegant shipboard style and atmosphere, it's nice to dress up from time to time. We suggest the following: Casual attire is perfect for most evenings on board – casual tops with pants, skirts or dresses for ladies, casual shirts and trousers for men. Informal evenings invite you to wear pant suits or dresses for ladies, jackets and blazers – with or without tie – for gentlemen. Formal evenings are a gala affair with ladies preferring festive apparel and gentlemen choosing a tuxedo or dinner jacket with black tie or dark suit. Whatever the occasion, your Daily Program will indicate which evening attire is most suitable.
